Five friends in the iron industry spend much of their lives working the blast furnaces in a small Pennsylvanian town. During their free time they enjoy hunting deer together. One of them is about to get married, and they get ready to celebrate this and to mark the departure of three others to Vietnam. Two years later, the war rages on and the three friends in Vietnam find themselves prisoners in a Viet Cong camp. They make it back home safely, but the horrors of the camp still haunt them.
